Chinmaya Yuva Kendra (CHYK) is the global youth wing of Chinmaya Mission, with the motto “harnessing youth potential through dynamic spirituality” which is achieved through various innovative activities, programs and projects customized to the needs and interests of the modern youth…
WHAT WE DO
“Our aim is to live to our True Potential”, says Swami Tejomayananda, Global Head of the Chinmaya Mission, and in CHYK we groom leaders and develop potentialities by bringing out one’s study and reflections through the activities mentioned below. Thus it is not only theory and words, but practice and situational experiences. With the support of values and knowledge, we focus on making every effort and attempt a work of excellence.
The purpose of CHYK is enabling each youngster to connect with oneself, encouraging one to learn through all these various ways and methods depending on one’s inclination and temperament. With the underlying message of Self knowledge, we strive to blend the subtle philosophical concepts with practical activities.
Discover through Discussion: Study groups
CHYK study classes are interactive reading and discussion sessions where participants study a Vedantic text based on the syllabus developed by Swami Chinmayananda and supplemented by Swami Tejomayananda. Knowledge through books goes only that far. Get to know what others feel, broaden your perspective and THINK!
Reel Vedanta: Movie Workshops
Popular movies such as Matrix, Kung Fu Panda, The Peaceful Warrior are interpreted using the wisdom of the sages! These take you on an introspective reel life to real life journey… And ensuring you absorb celluloid wisdom like you’ve never done before!
Intel Inside, Excel Outside: Camps
These camps can have as many as 50 to 800 people in one location, they are the all-in-one package of discussions, games, interactive sessions, adventure, not to forget the nostalgic memories, friends and life lessons to return home with. These camps are real-transformers of life.
Master Yourself: Sessions, Workshops and Symposiums
So often, we get caught up with work and our routines, that we need constant recharging of Vedanta into our lives! Thus, we present inspirational weekend sessions on unlocking the secrets to better living and demystifying Indian culture for Generation Next.
Outdoor Experiential Learning
Learning through thrilling adventure sessions to face your fears and transcend your limitations. Rappelling, white-water rafting, rock-climbing are just a few of the activities that our dynamic Acharyas participate in!
From Page to Stage: Theatre
Theatre, as a medium to spread a message, is so endlessly fascinating, as it draws constant parallels to life. Chinmaya Yuva Kendra has a host successful plays such as Surya 108, Death, Adrshya, India 2047, which helps people showcase the messages of the Masters, in innovative ways!
Why do We: Festival Celebrations
The rich cultural heritage of India often fascinates, puzzles and befuddles us! Why so many poojas, festivals, temples and rituals? At CHYK, we celebrate Indian culture with zeal and enthusiasm with the right understanding of what we do, why we do. And, of course, we wouldn’t miss an opportunity to give ourselves a break!
Serve and Deserve: Projects
Whether it be Social Service Projects (link to CORD), publications (link) such Chinmaya Udghosh- the international monthly magazine of the Chinmaya Yuva Kendra, and books like DROP, Geeta for Yuva, or Nation wide projects such as Awakening Indians to India, there’s always something happening at CHYK!
The journey to explore India, not as tourists but as travellers, who seek answers, more meaning and new experiences. CHYK has organised yatras to Gaumukh, Leh- Ladakh, Kailash- Mansarovar, Amarnath, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and many more locations to find out what the land of Bharat has in store for us!
The final note
The end objective of all these activities and programmes in CHYK is to soak up the underlying message of the Rishis. Tuning ourselves to the inner silence, diving into the depths of life and exploring it, getting the clarity to define our roles and play them, and most importantly the vision to think big and look at the larger picture…
